The UniCats Project
objectives
The UniCats project aims to assist the customer in the market
of scientific literature
- to find the services most appropriate for his/her needs,
- to make use of different services under a common interface
that is adapted to him/her,
- accompanies the customer all along the process of search and
delivery,
- combines and merges different services to give the user a
value-added servive.
The UniCats project wants to help the information providers
- by offering an open platform that enables commerce transactions
in the field of literature,
- by bringing together supply and demand,
- by giving each provider the chance to present its speacial offer
and advantages.

The UniCats project also intends to help libraries
- to face the upcoming market situation,
- to give their users a uniform and more comfortable access to
manifold servives,
- to hold on to their priority task (supporting university users)
even under the Internet challenge,
- to enrich their own supplement on servives by the combination
with servives from other libraries and information providers,
- to provide their customers a value-added services just by
an integration of existing servives.
